Will China take over the US as the most powerful country in the world? Why?

It is possible because -

The People's Republic of China receives continual coverage in the popular press of its emerging superpower status, and has been identified as a rising or emerging economic growth and military superpower by academics and other experts. In fact, the "rise of China" has been named the top news story of the 21st century by the Global Language Monitor, as measured by number of appearances in the global print and electronic media, on the Internet and blogosphere, and in social media. The term "Second Superpower" has been applied by scholars to the possibility that the People's Republic of China could emerge with global power and influence on par with the United States. The potential for the two countries to form stronger relations to address global issues is sometimes referred to as the Group of Two.

I do not think China will take the lead as the most powerful country in the world. I believe China is not a free country yet. From what I am told Chinese government still has control over their citizens. I do believe that China is a communist country. For that reason I do not think China will surpass The U.S as the world leader.

The us is ranked as number 1 according to the global power index. The us navy is the same size as the rest of the worlds combined. Numbers are not everything, in WW2 the Chinese had many more people than Japan and yet there were thrashed. The Japanese were better trained and better equipped.

China is better! Its way better than USA. They have a surplus of money and don't waste it on 13 aircraft carriers, instead they use it on more useful things. They have better income, education and of course better healthcare. USA's debt is over 60 trillion dollars and have never been close to decreasing it.

China has certainly gain a lot of momentum in its growth especially in the economic sector. It is also a nation not to be messed with in terms of military power. I do believe that given the time, China will become a superpower that will surpass even the United States. Unless the US starts to be complacent, then China will have no problem taking control from the US. But I do not thinknthat the US will let themselves be overtaken by China anytime soon.

China is the most powerful counrty in the world i think. I have visited Bejing and guanzhou, They have bigger bridges, bigger malls, wider roads, more people, more cities, more everything than the USA. The U.S. has a bigger military but the U.S. could never win a war against China.

It's very possible because they don't pay their workers nearly as much as the US does so the country is making just a ton of money.

# # # How does it Matter # # #

US has been a country with the largest economic growth for almost a century now... After it joined the WW1 in 1917, the culture, lifestyle and trade also changed & it gave an impetus for them to grow both militarily and economically too..

The Reserve currency status achieved in the Bretton Woods Agreement in 1944 gave another boost to the US and from then on all they had to do was print more money and keep buying anything or fund their weapons development unabated and whenever they wanted to... isn't that fun!!! The US govt. used cash like toilet paper.. so dispensable..!!! Replicating without any accounting of Gold Reserves which actually serves as a backing to its reserve status and amassing the largest debt any country has ever seen in the world till date...

The country was known as, "The Land of Opportunities" and was rightly so.. however the US economy has had it's share of huge ups and major downs, also known as the great depressions.. and add to it several wars in between... Even today its economy is under some pressure and is trying to recover. They were enjoying economic growth on the basis of easy and unchecked credit availability.. and that is what led to the sub-prime crisis from which recovery is still ongoing..

As for the Military part, we all know who makes the most weapons of mass destruction and spreads its tentacles into every other country that they can manage to reach...

China was the fastest growing major economy on the planet with average 10% growth rate over 30 years which is unprecedented.. that's why it is called the economic miracle.. if we take the purchasing power parity (PPP) which takes into account relative cost of local goods, services and inflation rates of the country and is a more meaningful growth indicator, China is Currently the worlds largest economy, hence it has already taken over The US in that sense..

Militarily, it has been preparing itself for decades to withstand any internal and external disturbances and unlike US it never interferes with the internal affairs of other countries... US' military power may or may not be much more than China, since no one has a clear picture of what either of the countries possess and in any case, overall i feel it doesn't even matter who is where in the GDP or Military race as long as its citizens are protected and are able to withstand aggression and generate sustenance..

I think China will over take the United States as the #1 Economy but i do not think they will be as respected as the US or as much sway in GLOBAL issues.

No, China can not take over the USA as the most powerful country in the world. The USA is a free economic country while China is a communist country whereby having some sort of control over its citizens
